How Often Should an Office Be Cleaned?

There is no useful one-size answer. The right office cleaning frequency depends on how many people use the space, which rooms receive the most traffic and what standard the business needs to maintain.

Cleaner maintaining the floor in a modern office

Begin with how the workplace is used

An office with six staff and limited visitors does not need the same schedule as a busy practice, shared workspace or customer service centre. Floor area matters, but usage usually tells you more about how quickly the premises will need attention.

Start by looking at the rooms that affect hygiene, presentation and staff comfort. Bathrooms, kitchens, entrances and busy floors often need attention more frequently than low use meeting rooms or storage areas.

Factors that change the frequency

  • The number of staff on a normal day
  • Visitors, patients or customers using the premises
  • The number of bathrooms and kitchen areas
  • Carpet, hard floors and wet weather entry points
  • Food preparation and lunchroom use
  • Bins that contain food or sanitary waste
  • Shared desks, meeting rooms and touch points
  • The standard expected for reception and customer areas
  • Opening hours and the time available for cleaning

A workplace that operates five days a week may still need cleaning two, three or five times each week. The decision should come from the condition between services, not from a package name.

A practical starting point

For a small office with moderate use, two or three services each week may be a sensible starting point. A busy workplace may need weekday cleaning, while a lightly used professional office may remain presentable with fewer visits and a clearly planned periodic service.

This is only a planning guide. A site visit is the better way to confirm what the premises actually needs.

Some tasks can follow a different schedule

Not every task has to occur on every visit. Bathrooms, bins and kitchens may need regular attention, while internal glass, detailed kitchen cleaning, skirting boards or high dusting can be scheduled periodically.

Separating routine and periodic work can keep the plan practical without allowing detail to build up indefinitely.

Review the schedule after the first month

A new cleaning plan should be reviewed once the cleaner and the business have seen how the site behaves. If bathrooms deteriorate before the next service, the frequency or task allocation may need to change. If low use rooms remain clean, time may be better spent elsewhere.

Staff numbers, office layouts and operating hours also change. The schedule should be adjusted when the workplace changes rather than continuing with an old scope that no longer fits.

How Tas Clean Solutions approaches frequency

We ask about the workplace, inspect the priority areas where needed and prepare a written scope. The quote explains the proposed service days, routine tasks and any periodic work so the business can review the plan before deciding.
