Regular home cleaning

What to Expect From Your First Home Cleaning Visit

The first visit is when the cleaner learns the home, confirms priorities and sees whether the requested time matches the current condition. A little preparation makes that visit more useful.

The first clean establishes the real starting point

A quote is prepared from the information available before the booking, but the first visit is when the cleaner sees the layout, surfaces and current condition together. This is also the time to confirm the areas that matter most to the household.

The aim is not to turn the visit into a long inspection. A short, clear handover helps the cleaner begin confidently.

Before the cleaner arrives

Make sure the cleaner has the correct address, parking information and a reliable way to enter the property. If you will not be home, test the key or lockbox arrangement first.

It also helps to:

  • Put away private documents, medication and valuable items
  • Clear loose belongings from the floors and main surfaces
  • Secure pets or explain where they will be
  • Remove dishes if dishwashing is not part of the scope
  • Identify fragile, damaged or sensitive surfaces
  • Explain any product restrictions or genuine sensitivities
  • Choose the rooms or tasks that are most important

Cleaning and tidying are different jobs. Clearing personal belongings allows more of the booked time to be used on surfaces, bathrooms, kitchens and floors.

Confirm the agreed scope

The cleaner should know which rooms are included and whether the service is regular maintenance, a one off clean or a more detailed reset. Inside ovens, fridges, cupboards, windows, walls and high areas should be discussed separately rather than assumed.

If the home is in a different condition from the photographs or description used for the quote, the cleaner should explain what can reasonably be completed before doing unapproved extra work.

Expect the first visit to be different from later visits

A first clean may reveal detail that has accumulated over time. Bathrooms, kitchen surfaces and edges can require more attention before the home reaches a maintainable routine.

Later visits can become more consistent once the main build up has been addressed and the cleaner understands the household priorities.

Give useful feedback

After the service, be specific about any concern. Name the room and task rather than saying the whole clean was not right. Also mention which results were most useful so the future scope reflects what matters to you.

A regular plan can then be adjusted if the booked time, task list or frequency does not suit the home.

Tas Clean Solutions first visit process

We review the property details before quoting and confirm the agreed scope in writing. At the first visit, we check access, priorities and any surface concerns. If the condition or requested work is materially different, we discuss it before changing the service.
